About Lauren
The Los Angeles-based artist, Lauren Waller, bridges the divide between 1980s dark wave and modern electro-textured indie pop. Her aesthetic also encompasses the confessional and poetic intimacy of the singer-songwriter idiom and the thrilling satisfaction of contemporary pop. Her soulful pop has earned her favorable comparisons to Lorde, Regina Spektor, Halsey, Fletcher, and Hayley Kiyoko.
Her debut album, Talking To Myself, delivers a bittersweet, intoxicating cocktail of indie, alt, and pop capabilities, with fresh, forward-thinking sounds. Waller melds playful invention, swagger, lyricism, introspection, and theatricality throughout. From luminous dreamscape pop to catchy dance songs, Waller’s distinctive style is marked by emotionally generous storytelling and an ethereal voice. In tone and lyrical content, she expresses raw truths without needing to tilt narratives in the way of happy endings. This album's stories are of her 20s, including the highest of highs and the lowest of lows. Waller continues to evolve and learn that she doesn’t need or wants to be placed in a stylistic box. Highlighted tracks from Talking To Myself include the flirty “Backseat,” the biting “Green Eyed Jealousy,” and the lighthearted party anthem “Best Coast.”
Deemed a modern-day Renaissance Girl, Waller holds a degree in theatre production and design and has pursued the art of varied mediums. As a singer-songwriter and performer, she has released numerous original songs with distinctive wide-ranging vocals and insightful storytelling lyrics. In addition to her debut album, these releases include two EPs and a collection of singles, with works that have streamed worldwide. Her latest EP—her second overall— no names here, blurs the line between the observational and the personal. Themes of relationships course through the five-song EP, and, in tone and lyrical content, Select performance highlights from Waller’s resume include performing on RTE, Ireland’s National Television, at the International Rose of Tralee Festival, and appearances at the Viper Room and the Hotel Café. Waller has opened for and supported world-renowned performers, including Tower of Power, Wilson Philips, Jim Messina, Basia, Peter Noone, Nancy Wilson, Flock of Seagulls, Anna Nalick, and Morgan James.
Waller has previously received numerous press accolades and recognition from tastemakers. She premiered tracks from the album live for the industry at the highly regarded MUSEXPO showcase in Hollywood, California.
Lauren continues to evolve as a writer, singer, and story-teller. Her music is available to stream on all platforms.
